RV travel to Yellowstone — what you need to know
Yellowstone has strict RV length limits on many interior roads. Vehicles over 21 feet cannot access some campground loops. The Beartooth Highway (to the northeast entrance) is spectacular but not recommended for vehicles over 40 feet. Fuel up before entering — gas stations inside the park are limited and significantly more expensive.
Best season to visit Yellowstone by RV
Peak season is July–August — campgrounds fill months in advance. Shoulder season (May–June, September) offers fewer crowds. Winter access is limited and most roads close to RVs from November to April.
